Summer Readin

The two books I read this summer were, Jurassic Park by Michel Chretien and A Brief History Of Time by Stephen Hawking. To start, my favorite of the was Jurassic Park. I like that unlike the movie, there was the threat over the heads of the characters that there were raptors on a ship heading for the mainland. The death of Nedery was made more graphic by there being an actual description of how he died to the Dilophosaurus. What I learned from the book is best summed up by a quote from Ian Malcolm, “Life will find a way.” In my opinion, that is the overarching theme of the book. This resonated with me because I used to live in the mountains until about a year ago, when I moved to Littleton. But living in the mountains, I saw wildlife first hand every day and this book has caused more of a respect for that life in me.

The second book, that I read was A Brief History Of Time by Stephen Hawking. This book is considered to be the book on theoretical physics. The book answers questions such as, how did the universe begin, why does time always flow forward, is the universe unending, what will happen when it ends, and most important, is there a god? I liked how easy it was to understand what he was talking about. Stephen Hawking truly has a talent as a science communicator. He can make something as complex as the physics of a black hole as simple as riding a bike. It resonated with me well because I enjoy learning and science. It better explained things that I thought I knew a lot about and allowed me to broaden my understanding of these topics.
